SE 6 - Angels

Bobby Haaby

Overview

You can’t talk about encounters with God without talking about angels. Angels are woven throughout the story of Scripture—from Genesis to Revelation. In this lesson, we’ll explore not just what angels do, but why their presence matters for your life as a believer. Bobby shares personal experiences and biblical truths to help us discern, honor, and partner with angels—always with our eyes set on Jesus, the Lamb of God. You’ll discover the purpose of angelic ministry, how to recognize true encounters, and ways to cultivate heavenly partnership as part of your everyday walk.

“They’re not just here to help you encounter angels. They’re here to help you behold the Lamb. And if that kind of fruit is not happening, then I would be suspect about that.”

—Bobby Haaby

Core Takeaways:

Angels are created by God and operate as ministering spirits, always pointing us to Jesus.

True angelic encounters result in greater revelation and passion for Christ.

Angels have assignments—to guide, protect, provide, deliver, gather, and minister to God’s people (see biblical examples below).

We are called to interact, not worship, angels. They are “fellow servants” (Revelation 19:10).

The New Testament church saw frequent angelic activity as normal. We can expect and partner with the same today.

Hospitality and a servant heart are major ways to “entertain angels unaware” (Hebrews 13:2).

You have authority to agree with heaven and release (“dispatch”) angels through prayer and declarations, always under Jesus’ lordship.

Key Scriptures:

Revelation 5:11–12, 19:10 — Angels and saints worshiping; “Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Daniel 9:21–23 — Angelic visitation brings understanding and revelation.

2 Kings 6:17 — “Open his eyes, Lord, so that he may see.”

Psalm 103:20–21 — “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.”

Hebrews 1:14, 13:2 — Angels are “ministering spirits” sent to serve believers; hospitality can bring angelic encounters.

Acts 12:5–15 — Angel sets Peter free; the church expects angelic involvement.

Questions to Consider:

After encountering God—or even an angel—do you find yourself more in love with Jesus, or simply amazed by the supernatural?

How might you be more intentional to “partner” with heaven in your prayer, worship, and hospitality?

Activation:

Take 5–10 minutes today to pray, “Lord, open my eyes to see what You’re doing around me. Help me behold Jesus in every encounter—whether with Your Spirit, Your Word, or Your heavenly messengers. I choose to agree with heaven’s agenda.”

Ask the Holy Spirit if there are places you can increase hospitality or service, knowing this is one way angels draw near.

Journal Prompt:

Reflect on this: “What fruit have I seen from supernatural encounters—do they draw me deeper into Christ? Am I willing to be used by God as a vessel for both hospitality and heavenly partnership?”

Remember:

Angels are partners in your assignment, but Jesus is always the focus. As you walk in intimacy, authority, and hospitality, you join the saints and angels in bringing heaven to earth—beholding the Lamb and making His name famous.
