You've Already Been Bumped to First Class

You've Already Been Bumped to First Class

What if the thing standing between you and the life God designed for you isn't a lack of power, provision, or even faith — but a failure to see where you're already seated?
That was the heart of Sunday's message at Eagle Mountain, and it landed with weight. Not the kind of weight that burdens you, but the kind that anchors you. The kind that makes you stand a little taller because you finally realize what Jesus already accomplished on your behalf.
Here's the picture: a plane taking off, climbing fast, accelerating — and every seat in coach is packed. But first class? Empty. And the Father is standing at the front of the cabin asking a question that should stop us all in our tracks: Why is nobody up here?

The Glory Has Already Been Given

In John 17, we get an extraordinary glimpse into the heart of Jesus just before the cross. He's not talking to the crowd. He's not teaching a parable. He's having a conversation with His Father — about you.
“The glory which You have given Me, I have given to them, that they may be one just as We are one” (John 17:22).
That word “given” is past tense. Not future. Not conditional. Not pending your performance review. Jesus said it plainly: the glory the Father gave Him, He has already transferred to us. And the purpose of that glory isn't just a theological concept to admire — it's an invitation into the same intimate companionship that Jesus shares with the Father.
“I in them, and You in Me.” That's not distant. That's not transactional. That is union. That is wholeness. That is the kind of oneness that changes how you think, how you pray, and how you walk through every ordinary Tuesday of your life.

You Were Made for More Than Rescue

It's easy to reduce salvation to a rescue mission — an escape from darkness, a ticket out of judgment. And yes, that's real. But God didn't save you just to make sure you were somewhere on the plane. He didn't pull you from the wreckage just to sit you in the back row with your baggage.
He saved you to be His companion.
That's the part that shakes religion loose. God is not merely a King looking for subjects. He is a Father longing for fellowship. He wanted you close — thinking with Him, walking with Him, partnering with Him. And to make that possible, He had to do two things: make you eternal, and give you His divine nature.
Second Peter 1:3-4 says it with stunning clarity: “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature.”
Everything pertaining to life and godliness. Not most things. Not the spiritual things only. Everything. And it's already been granted. Past tense. By divine power — not your effort.

Put It On

So what's the practical response to a truth this massive? Ephesians 4:24 makes it remarkably simple: “Put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.”
That's it. Put it on.
Not earn it. Not manufacture it. Not strive for it through years of spiritual gymnastics. The new self has already been created. It already carries righteousness. It already carries holiness. Your job — your daily act of faith and obedience — is to put it on like a garment and walk in it.
Every morning, before the world speaks its verdict over you, before circumstances hand you their report, before your five senses try to run the show — you open your mouth and declare where you are seated. You say things like: I am a new creation in Christ. I am a partaker of the divine nature. I carry the life and nature of the Father in my spirit. I approach the throne of grace boldly as a son, as a daughter — not as a beggar.
This isn't arrogance. This is worship. This is agreeing with what Jesus paid to give you. This is the courage to believe Scripture over your senses.

The Only Power the Enemy Has

Here's the truth that should set you free today: the only real power the enemy has over a believer is deception. That's it. The lie that you're still sitting in the back. The lie that you're not worthy of the seat God Himself assigned to you. The lie that your past, your failures, or your weakness disqualify you from first class.
Satan fell because he reached for an identity God never gave him. But you are not reaching for something that was never yours. You are stepping into a position that God Himself created, purchased, and handed to you. That's a completely different story.
Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). That's not a bumper sticker. That's your identity. That's your reality. And the more you speak it, believe it, and live from it, the more transformation takes root in your soul and spills into every area of your life — your family, your workplace, your community, and every sphere of society where God has placed you.

The Cloud of Witnesses and the Holy Huddle

Hebrews 12:1 reminds us that we are surrounded by “so great a cloud of witnesses.” These are the ones who have gone before — the matriarchs and patriarchs, the grandparents and spiritual mothers and fathers who carried faith through their generation and now cheer from the other side of eternity.
And here's something stunning from Sunday's message: when Jesus ascended in Acts 1:9, your Bible says “a cloud received Him out of their sight.” That word for cloud? It's the same word used for the great cloud of witnesses in Hebrews 12. And the word “received” means to welcome, to champion.
Jesus wasn't disappearing behind a weather cloud. He was being welcomed home by every saint who had gone before — the holy huddle of heaven celebrating the One who made it all possible.
You are part of that story. What you and I are doing on this earth is not small. It's not isolated. We are walking out what Jesus paid to give His bride. And we are surrounded — not alone, never alone — by a great company of Christ-followers who carried this same hope before us.

Step Into Your Seat

So here's the question for you today: Where have you been sitting in coach when God has already bumped you to first class?
Where have you been waiting for an upgrade that was allocated to your ticket before you even boarded?
This is your boarding call. Your name is being called right now. Not because you earned it. Not because your life is perfectly together. But because Jesus — the firstborn among many — went to the cross, said “It is finished,” and gave you everything you need to live as a new creation with a divine nature and an eternal calling.
Put on the new self today. Speak truth over your soul. Declare your identity before the world gets the first word. And walk into every room, every relationship, every assignment, and every challenge knowing exactly where you are seated — in heavenly places, with Christ, in first class.
