How Do You Identify: Living From The Legal Power Of The Blood
How Do You Identify?
It's the question everyone seems to be asking. And it's worth answering — not from culture, not from your feelings, and not from your track record this week. The answer to "How do you identify?" has to come from something deeper, something legal, something finished.
Revelation 12:11 says, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death." That verse isn't aspirational. It's describing the church right now — believers who understand the weight of the blood and the authority of their testimony.
But here's what most of us miss: your testimony isn't only your past. It's not just where Jesus brought you from. Your testimony is unfolding right now. It's the living, breathing proof that the truth inside the Word of God actually works — for you, today.
And the foundation of that testimony? The blood of the Lamb.

From Covering to Complete Removal
In the old covenant, the word for forgiveness was atonement — a temporary covering. Every year, the high priest carried the blood of a spotless lamb into the Holy of Holies, and sins were covered for another year. Covered. Not removed.
But in the new covenant, the word changed. It became remission — to take away, to send away, to dismiss as though it had never been. That's an entirely different reality. Your sins haven't been covered over. They've been completely wiped away by the sacrifice of Jesus, once and for all.
Hebrews 9:26 puts it plainly: "He has been manifested to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself." Not to manage it. Not to suppress it. To put it away.
And yet so many believers still walk under the weight of guilt, shame, and an evil conscience — as if the blood didn't finish the job. If we're honest, we've all been hit with that. Feeling unclean. Feeling disqualified. Feeling like we need to earn our way back into right standing.
That's where the truth of the covenant has to become bigger than our feelings.

Your Identity Starts With Righteousness
When we think about identity, most of us go straight to purpose, calling, or gifting. But that's not where identity begins. The core of who you are has been made righteous by the blood of Jesus. Not by your effort. Not by your improvement. By His sacrifice.
2 Corinthians 5:21 says, "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." That happened at the cross. It's not unfolding as you become a better Christian. It's finished.
Righteousness is not moral improvement. It's legal standing. And that distinction changes everything. It means your identity isn't up for renegotiation based on how your week went. It means inferiority and guilt are an assault against the blood covenant itself — because they declare that the blood of Jesus was not sufficient.
When you entered a blood covenant with Christ, everything that belongs to Him became yours. His righteousness. His provision. His protection. You didn't just receive forgiveness — you received identification with Christ. Joint heir. Fully clean. Legally established.

The Spirit Realm Responds to What's Legal
Here's where this becomes fiercely practical. Psalm 103:20 says, "Bless the Lord, you His angels, mighty in strength, who perform His word, obeying the voice of His word." Angels don't respond to your feelings. They respond to the Word of God. They move when covenant truth is spoken.
When guilt speaks, you answer with Scripture. When fear speaks, you answer with Scripture. When lack or sickness try to define you, you open your mouth and declare what is legally yours in Christ. That's not wishful thinking — that's enforcing the verdict that the blood already established.
The blood of Jesus didn't cry out for open-ended justice. It declared a verdict. Resolution. It is finished. And the word of your testimony enforces that verdict in your everyday life — in your family, your workplace, your community, and every sphere of society where God has placed you.

This Week, Enforce the Truth
There will be moments this week when condemnation knocks. When guilt whispers. When your feelings try to overrule what the blood has already settled. In those moments, you have a covenant and a Bible full of promises — 8,810 of them, and every one is already "yes" in Christ.
When guilt rises, answer with 2 Corinthians 5:21. When fear presses in, answer with Romans 8:15. When lack tries to speak, answer with Philippians 4:19. When sickness comes, answer with 1 Peter 2:24. Make it legal. Make it louder than your feelings. And watch what heaven does on your behalf.
You are not waiting to become righteous. You were made righteous. That's the core of who you are. That's your identity — not just identity, but identification with Christ. And from that place of wholeness, grace, and covenant truth, you carry hope and faith and kingdom authority into every part of your life.
This is your moment to stop striving and start standing on what's already been done.
